as areas under the normal curve. Be sure to press the Enter key after editing
in a cell to record the changes. When this applet loads, the values correspond
to Example 7.4 in the text.
- The average duration is less than 7 years.
The menu at the bottom of the graph should be set to "Cumulative."
- The average duration exceeds 7 years.
The menu at the bottom of the graph should be set to "One-Tailed."
- The average duration lies within 1 year of the population mean mu = 8.
The menu at the bottom of the graph should be set to "Middle."
