Do It Yourself!: Building a Dotplot
Dotplot Demo
Click on the applet below to place a dot to represent each data value. The applet
will step you through the process. When the cursor is over the applet, a green
line and a green numerical value show you where a dot will be placed when you
click. If you click in the wrong place, a red line will appear to show you where
you should have clicked. If dots would be on top of each other, the applet will
stack them up or offset them so they don't completely overlap. As practice,
make a dotplot for the data of Figure 1.9(a). That is, place dots at each of
the following data values:
Do It Yourself
- Click on the applet to add a point.
- Holding down the shift key while clicking on the applet
removes the last point added.
- Clicking your browser's Refresh or Reload button will remove all points from the applet.
