We will have displays and will be observing the Sun during the day if it is not cloudy. We will be also observing with the 18" Planewave telescope and several smaller telescopes on the deck in the evening if the skies are clear. The poster for the event is shown below.

The Observatory is extremely pleased to announce that it has purchased a Shelyak LHiRes III spectrograph. The new instrument has a resolving power of nearly R=18000. This allows us to measure spectral lines to a precision of better than 0.05 nanometres. We will be able to measure the radial velocities (using Doppler shifts) of binary stars, cosmic distances (using redshifts), and infer the abundance of trace elements in stars!
